Let’s get down to business, without frills or salesman’s speeches. Nobody -and I repeat, NOBODY- likes to be sold. Not cars, not insurance, not even that apartment with a view that looks like something out of Instagram. As soon as we feel that someone is trying to sell us something, wham! Alarms go off as if we were the A-Team.

But here’s the kicker: we love to shop. Yes, my friend, because when we find that bargain or that house that seems to be made for us, the feeling is brutal. The difference is in who takes control: you want to discover it for yourself, not be boxed in.

When someone is house hunting, they don’t go around wasting time. They become hunters, stalking offers, imagining renovations, visualizing themselves on the couch watching the latest Netflix. But… if someone approaches you with a “I’ll sell you the apartment of the century” face, you jump faster than a cat on Red Bull.

The scene is typical:

– “Hi, are you interested in a small apartment?”
– “No, I’m just looking…”

LIE! You don’t enter real estate portals for sport. You are looking, but you don’t want to be sold by force.

When someone tries to screw you over with sleazy salesman techniques, it triggers that sixth sense of distrust. No one wants to feel dumb, right?

The reality is clear: we all want to buy, but we need to feel that the decision is ours.

A really good advisor is not the one who gives you the same old crap. It’s the one that leaves you room to imagine yourself having a barbecue on the terrace, or those Sundays with a movie and blanket in your new living room.

– BOOM! The fear of losing it wakes you up like a loaded coffee.

Nobody buys an apartment because it has “good orientation” or “well distributed meters”. No, we buy with our heart. You fall in love with the house and then you start making rational excuses:

– “It’s an investment.”
– “It’s in an up-and-coming area.”
– “It has natural light all day.”

The truth is that you had already decided as soon as you imagined your life there.

Here’s the thing that hurts: the fear of losing is much stronger than the desire to win. If you feel that someone else can take your chance… Wham! You go into hunting mode.

That’s why, when a consultant blurts out the classic “there are others interested”, it’s not just an empty phrase. It’s the master trick that sets off your internal alarms. And it works, and it works.
